VCAL Teacher / Coordinator


Gail is the VCAL Coordinator at Pines Learning and also teaches Intermediate and Senior Numeracy.

Originally training as a Primary teacher in New Zealand Gail has since taught in several education settings in mainstream schools in NZ and Victoria (Primary, Secondary, Technical) and in TAFE specialising in Numeracy and Literacy. She has also taught in alternative settings that focus on disengaged and /or disadvantaged youth and adults. These include a drug rehabilitation facility, TAFE & Community programs for ‘at risk’ youth and in Corrections Education in male maximum security prisons and to young offenders in Juvenile Justice.

Gail taught the Certificate in General Education for Adults (CGEA) for 18 years in Levels Intro, 1 & 2 in Numeracy, Literacy and Projects incorporating Careers Pathways and Employment skills into some of these programs. She taught all units of Intermediate and Senior VCAL in a TAFE youth program for 7 years prior to her appointment at Pines Learning.

Teaching Qualifications:

  • MA. (Counselling)
  • Graduate Certificate in Computer Education
  • Diploma in Teaching (Primary)
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
  • Certificate IV in Career Development

Gail has Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.
